HP Proliant ML370 G5 Can't expand the array

Hi all,
I have an Proliant ML370 G5 , 1 have 5 SAS 72GB, 2 HDDs using RAID 0+1 and others RAID 5, now i want to expand 3 more 72 GB SAS Hard disks in SAS array RAID 5.
But the ACU don't show Expand Array as picture
I have read the HP document . It say: "NOTE: Expand array is listed only if there is an unassigned physical drive on the controller.
The unassigned drive must also have a capacity no less than that of a drive in an existing
array .
Do you have any way to expand my array ?
Please help me!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much

Re: HP Proliant ML370 G5 Can't expand the array

hi khuyen

since you have a P400 controller
you need BBWC upgrade as specs states in order to have the expand option and other options

http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12400_na/12400_na.html

#Online array expansion (with BBWC upgrade)
#Online logical drive extension (with BBWC upgrade)
# Online RAID level migration (with BBWC upgrade)
# Online strip size migration (with BBWC upgrade)

Part you need
Battery-backed write cache upgrade
383280-B21

Re: HP Proliant ML370 G5 Can't expand the array

hi

yes that's the only way if you want to add those HDDs

well I am not sure about this some people say if you smartstart CD booting the server the option will be available and you won't need to buy that part

to tell the truth I have not had the opportunity (it can be a urban legend - kidding) to test that

But I think people say that because if you read this
"#Online array expansion (with BBWC upgrade)"

so some people say ONLINE means while server is running OS and if you try offline rebooting server using smartstart CD you will the option

so from my part you can that and once let me know if that is truth

Hi Karlo,
I restart the server and insert smart start CD, when going to ACU, it don't show me the function "Expand Array".
Do you have any ideas about this ? Should i install newest version of ACU, i am using version 7.85.18.0
Thanks sir,
Khuyen

Re: HP Proliant ML370 G5 Can't expand the array

well

so SSCD is false

no there is no other way, you have to buy that BBWC or create a new logical drive
