HP SAS EXPANDER 12 GB CARD 727250-B21

We currently have an HP DL380 Gen 9 server with a P440ar Raid controller. The right most bay is filled with 8 SFF SAS drives with RAID 5 configuration. The server works as a DC and fileserver and it needs more space now. 

So Please help me  for expanding 8 more SFF drives into the remaing cage areas, I think we need:

1x 768857-B21 DL380 Gen9 8SFF Cage Bay2/Bkpl

1x 12Gb DL380 Gen9 SAS Expander Card

8x SAS SFF drives of my choosing (Probably 1.2TB HPE drives)

I also want to keep the original 8 drive with Raid 5 which is already confiugred . The additional 8 HDD drives will added in the server.

So main concerns:

Because after installing the sas expander card my current 8sff hard disks will be connected to sas exapander card and card will connect to p440ar raid controller so:

Q1: After installing HP SAS 12GB expander card Shall my current raid5 will be destroyed /shall i lost all of my data?

Q2:  After installing the extra 8sff hard disks can i add them in current RAID 5 which is already configured?

Q1: No, all RAID metadata stored on your disk drives

Q2: yes, you can expand your array with this new disks

But first of all, you shall do full backup of your data)

Hi,

can I expand also a RAID 1+0 adding a new disk cage and SAS controller without destroing my volumes if the first 8 disk are in a RAID volume created with the integrated controller?
