HP SE1102 Server Windows Installation

Hi,

I have recently purchased a HP SE1102 server from ebay which is more than enough for what we need the use for.

The problem i am stuck with is installing windows. I have managed to create a RAID logical drive in the setup and BIOS reports it has 1 logical drive which is great.

I can then get my Windows Server 2012 installation to start booting from DVD and can get to the installation part where i need to specify the drive. At this point all i see is 4x 500GB drives rather than 1 logical RAID drive which i was expecting to see.

I have tried loading a HP driver for the serial ATA card and this seems to install but still i can only see 4 driver.

What am i missing?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

Re: HP SE1102 Server Windows Installation

Hi,

SE1102 is similar to a DL180 G5 or G6 server and it does not support Windows Server 2012.

Have you tried installing any older version of Windows Server on this server?

Thank You!

Re: HP SE1102 Server Windows Installation

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I haven't tried any version apart from 2012.

I have read on another forum or post that if we install a hardware raid controller in this machine we could get around it. Would this work?

If so do you know the part number or model of the raid card needed?

Thanks
