HP Smart Storage Administrator - Adding additional drives to a raid 1+0

How do you add drive(s) to a current RAID 1+0 (10)? When I select the logical drive I want to add the drives to I only get the following 2 options:

Migrate RAID

or

Delete Logical Drive

According to my work documentation there should be an "Manage Data Drives" options which allows you to add drives to the existing RAID. The example is using a raid 1.

Even after doing some Google searching ever example is with a RAID 1. Can this not be done with a RAID 10?

Hello.

You need first to make sure, that the used Smart Array Controller does support RAID Extension.

Depending on the server/controller modell, you may need to install cache/battery module.

Make also sure, you are using latest version of the SSA.

Re: HP Smart Storage Administrator - Adding additional drives to a raid 1+0

Hello,

I am also noticing that I have no options to add an "unassigned drive" to an existing array.  My array is RAID 5.  I am downloading a more current version of SSA at this time.  I have the Smart HBA H240ar controller  Is this controller on your list of controllers that may require adding a battery in order to extend arrays?   I never heard of such a thing BTW.
