HP Smart update manager failed on time out...?

When i run HP SUM on an HP ML370 G5, it will end on 99% with a message:
Repository HP.COM failed with error:
Time out reached.
I spoke to several people about this, and they confirm this issue to be an issue since quite some time now.
Anybody, any solutions...?

I used the 8.60w2k3.i386.exe which i DL'd yesterday.

Are there options to use Internet as the repo for updates, during the initial startup?

try to use the non-express setup and select packages manually.

i never heard nor had problems with 8.60, installed a number of times on g4 and g5 supported machines.

Did you check the checksum of the file with the one you can download from the same page?

The download checks out OK.
I use the GUI version. And have checked the radio button to verify files against ftp.hp.com
When i click inventory it says that a pre-defined bundle exists. 50 compononents found 0 missing. when i start the update is starts then the message :
Repository HP.COM failed with error:
Time out reached.
pops up, only giving me the choice to click ok.
When i look at the file versions, some are updated some aren't.
When i check forced install it updates ok, but then it uses te pre downloaded updates.

ok, you don't have the required access to the web or the repo is offline or unreachable.

don't tick that checkbox and tick "allow non-bundle..." instead.

Everything should work fine.

OK, but then the advantage of the tool is much less çause it doesnt check against the newest updates....
As stated before, more ppl are confirming this issue from different sites, so i guess HP don't have the repo in working order since at least half a year...
