HP StorageWorks D2D2503i Backup System Question

Hi,

I have new HP StorageWorks D2D2503i Backup System in place. What BL server hardware is equivalent that D2D2503i used? The software of D2D is somewhat limiting me due to what I want to backup mostly are our old legacy system which comprise of Windows NT4 and Windows 2000 with our legacy application. We also don't have any backup application yet such as HP, Symantec, EMC, Computer Associates. Our only backup mean at this time is the built-in backup by windows.

Is it ok if I change the software installed of the D2D and make use of it as a server for my other needs. The reason I also ask if what compatible BL hardware the D2D is so that I can also upgrade the driver and firmware as needed. Please help.
