HP Version Control Agent fails to start: Error 1067

Hello,

I recently updated HP System Insight Manager on a Proliant server running Windows 2003 Sntd Ednt SP1 Server, and now the HP Version Control Angent Fails to start.

I get the following error on the screen when I try to manually start the service from the services console.

"Could not start the HP version control agent service on the local computer. Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly

Also, the following error is logged in the Application log:
=============================================
Source: Application Error
Category: (100)
Event ID: 1000

Description: Faulting application vcagent.exe, version 2.1.10.800, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.2.3790.1830, fault address 0x0001e91f.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
=============================================

Has anybody seen this error message before? How can I fix this problem?

Thanks,
Smoreno, ADOT

Hello,

Stopping the "performance monitor" didn't help.

Re: HP Version Control Agent fails to start: Error 1067

hi

- usually you stop service
- uninstall application
- and install latest version

-----------
This worked for me:

Stop or kill any starting/running vcagent process or installation.

Delete the service with 'sc delete cpqvcagent'

Delete the folder 'C:\hp\hpsmh\data\cgi-bin\vcagent'

Copy the cp008277.exe locally
Run the exe and extract
Browse to extracted location and run cpqsetup.exe

----------------
