This is probably an easy question. does the HP teaming utility support 3rd party NICs such as 3com?

No it does not. Really only works with NCXXXX series nics and even then you need to be using the same chipset on the cards in the team

Hi,
It is for Intel based card that are provided by HP. Non HP card won't work with the same utility.
