HP proliant m350 g4 freezes at startup.

As you can see at the attachment this is the point where my server stops responding, its not even responding when i press ctrl+m or ctrl+h.

Also i cannot get in the rom-based setup utility to change settings.

Kind Regards,

Re: HP proliant m350 g4 freezes at startup.

Hi,

Time to take the server to minimum configuration.

Switch Off the server and remove any additional RAM, PCI Card, USB devices that are not necessary for boot.

Switch ON the server and see if that fixes the issue.

Then add parts one by one and see which part is causing the hang.

If the above steps does not fix the issue, you may clear NVRAM from the System Maintenance Switch.

Thank You!

Re: HP proliant m350 g4 freezes at startup.

Thank you for your reply Suman,

I removed the cd drive + additional ram + the PCI Eterlink card, before turning the server on today.

At first this looked like a big change because i got more options like F9 Rom based setup, when i pressed it it said Fatal express port error. After that i tried booting from an CD with an external cd drive to run chkdsk on the harddrives, but it didn't take.

When i rebooted again the system is back to my previous issue of freezing at the ctrl + m / h option, even with the same things deattached.

Will clearing NVRAM do anything to my server, its from a client that just needs to start the server one last time for administrator purposes.

Hi,

Refer to this article.

Clearing NVRAM will clear BIOS configuration, means it will default to factory settings.

I cleared the NVRAM, unfortunately there has been no effect.
