HP proliant server memory upgrade

I have HP proliant server ML 530. Currently, the memory is 3GB(2X512KB and 2X1GB). I have bought additional 2X2GB and tried to upgrade to 4GB RAM and OS platform is win 2003 standard editional server 32 bit. first We take out the old 2X512 and add new 2X1GB to server (4X1GB). The hp event log show error "Corrected memory error threshold exceeded (system memory, memory module2)".Then the total memory show only 3.6GB. After that server restart frequently. Second we take out all memory and only test with 2X1GB newly bought. The total memory show 2GB. Now we change back to 2X512KB and 2X1GB old module.Please let me know your experience regarding this error/issue.

first of all

I recommend you to upgrade system ROM to be sure that this error "Corrected memory error threshold exceeded" it's not being cause by an old system rom

- also try clear NVRAM

- also play around with the memory module so you can determine if you got a faulty memory DIMM or a faulty slot

- the 3.6 issue it's windows issue

-After we upgrade new RAM (4X1GB)to 4GB of RAM, The system show me 4GB in BIOS, but in windows system show only 3.6GB,Then the hp event log show error "Corrected memory error threshold exceeded (system memory, memory module2)".
-This issue because of ROM Bios or RAM?

Thanks for your reply!As I understand on your answer, we may have two issue.

1. "Corrected memory error threshold exceeded" error log.
We need to try to solve with following solution.
-Upgrade ROM
-also try clear NVRAM
-also play around with the memory module so you can determine if you got a faulty memory DIMM or a faulty slot

2.The memory show 3.6GB RAM in the windows & bios show 4GB RAM
- We need to try to solve this problem by enabling PAE..
Am I right?
