HPE DL20 Gen10 - Fan Noise
Hi. I have an HPE DL20 Gen10 server. I installed Proxmox but in order to do so, I had to activate SATA support.
I did this: https://h30467.www3.hp.com/t5/Servidores/INSTALACION-DE-PROXMOX-EN-SERVIDOR-HP-PROLIANT-ML150-G9/td-p/725722
From that moment, the fans started to work more, generating a lot of noise.
This is normal? Can you do something about it? Thxs.

Re: HPE DL20 Gen10 - Fan Noise
Hello Enzymnd,
generally if server is configured in AHCI mode then fan speed may change. i would suggest to check below
In the iLO web interface, navigate to the Information > System Information page.
Click the Fans tab.
Verify the fan status and fan speed.Fan speeds greater than 60% are expected to be loud.
If the fan is running at a higher speed than expected
if still issue is there then please logs a support case with HPE to check and assist further.
Regards

Re: HPE DL20 Gen10 - Fan Noise
I have same FAN problem all x3 FANS work at 40% even server is in IDLE (in BIOS mode) , this is before I install Linux OS. When i unplug mounted HDD FAN rate normalises as soon as I mount HDD back and connect RAID controller FANS go at 40% and all this is on BIOS mode without any Linux OS.
I have HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen10 G5420 1P 8GB-U S100i
x2 HPE 1TB SATA 6G Entry 7.2K LFF (3.5in) HDD
RAID controller (HPE Smart Array E208i-a SrG10 LH Ctrlr)
all three server ventilators do work at 40% rate when server is in IDLE mode (with only BIOS running).
Please advice if possible, any comments are welcome
