HPE DL380P GEN8 fans working at 50% and some times at 60%
Hello,
I just bought a DL380P Gen 8 recently witch came with a HP Enterprise 10Gigabit Ethernet Card 2-port 530FLR and installed VMware 6.7 on it with all firmware updates made to the server and ilo updates. With this set the server works perfectly with the fans working at 9% but since i don't have the RJ45 adapter for the HP Enterprise 10Gigabit Ethernet Card 2-port 530FLR i had to go and get my HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 332T Adapter 615732-B21 witch i saw on the internet it was compatible with the server.
With my HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 332T Adapter 615732-B21 installed, when it boots vmware the funs run at 50% and some times 60%.
Installed Windows Server 2019 instead of running vmware and has the normal working with the fans working at 9%. Tried every version of vmware since 5.5, 6.0, 6.5 and 6.7 all of them do the same thing.
Does anybody know what is the problem and how to solve it?
My server specs are the following:
2x I-Xeon E5-2690 | 32GB PC3-10600R | Smart Array P420i/512 MB FBWC Controller | HP Enterprise 10Gigabit Ethernet Card 2-port 530FLR | HP Smart Array P822 24-CH 2GB SAS 6G PCI-E | HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 332T Adapter 615732-B21
Thank you very much for all your support in ahead.
Carlos

HPE Ethernet 1Gb 4-port 331FLR Adapter
I found this network card for sale on ebay.
Does any one have one working with the same server i have with vmware 6.7?
I really need to put the system up on the new server because the old server has a weak processor and already has vmware 6.7.
Thank you once more.

BIOS is the latest however you can update the ILO4 & NIC 332T adapter Firmware & Driver to the latest & check if the fan works normally.

Re: HPE DL380P GEN8 fans working at 50% and some times at 60%
@Everest89 Hey Carlos, forgive the question but you're loading the custom HPE image of ESXi yes?
Since 2019 server manages the fans speed just fine then we're kind of pretty much pointed to vmware as being the culprit around fan speed management hence my question about the custom ISO.
Beyond that I would kick a case with VMware and probably do some driver .vib stuff.
At this point I don't see how the NIC could be related, unless of course you tell us that with all stock NICs (no 10GB PCIe) and ESXi the fans run normal at 9%?
