HPE ML350 Gen10 Ethernet 100Mbs Thin Client Support
“SUPPORT COMMUNICATION - CUSTOMER NOTICE
Document ID: a00038759en_us
Version: 2
Notice: (Revision) HPE ProLiant ML350 Gen10 Servers - Servers Configured With an HPE Ethernet 1Gb 4-port 369i Adapter (LOM Adapter) Can Only Support 1Gb/s Network Speed And Will Not Connect to 100Mb Switches”
---
We want to purchase a Gen10 ML350 Server.
According to the information quoted, these servers (ML350) only work with switches at 1Gbs.
In our scenario we only have switches at 10/100/1000Mbs, which does not seem to be a problem if we want to connect the ML350 to these switches!
However, we have several Thin Clients connected via RDP to our actual server (not ML350). The Thin Clients network adapters on only work at 100Mbs (Thin Client network adapters are 100Mbs).
Our question has to do with the fact that, if we get this type of server, and although it is properly connected to our current switches, if the ports where the Thin Clients are connected (since they only detect traffic at 100Mbs), they will not be read by the ML350?
Clarify, if possible, if there will be incompatibility with Thin Clients devices because they are at 100Mbs, or because the switches ports are 1000Mbs, will not be a problem in detecting Thin Clients even being devices at 100Mbs, and the switches ports where they are connected detecting 100Mbs?
Thank you very much,

Re: HPE ML350 Gen10 Ethernet 100Mbs Thin Client Support
As everything is connecting via network switches this will not be an issue for you.
The switch ports will negotiate the appropriate speed for the connecting device.

Re: HPE ML350 Gen10 Ethernet 100Mbs Thin Client Support
Hi markzz,
Thanks in advance!
So, although the thin clients have adapters at 100Mbs, the fact that the switches are 1000Mbs, it will not be a problem for the ML350 server to detect the thin clients, because the switches will negotiate the appropriate speed for the connecting devices.
In fact, it won't be a problem for me, correct?
