HPE ProLiant DL380 G6 BIOS Upgrade

I am trying to upgrade the BIOS on my HPE ProLiant DL380 G6, I try to flash the BIOS on my flash Drive, and it will not flash onto my USB Flash Drive. I have tried another flash drive, I tried everything that I could think of. And the USB Creation Utility is still saying "Device midea is write-protected" I do not have it on readonly. I have it disabled in the registery. I do not know what else to do. Someone Please HELP!

Hi @IanSully

Are you able to format your UBS Pen drive ?

hope not, as mentioned about the Write-Protected error with USB utility.

Follow the steps to clear the readonly and check again with latest BIOS.

1. Run CMD as administrator
2. Type diskpart.exe
3. Type list disk
4. Type select disk # => disk number
5. Type attributes disk clear readonly

Also i assume you are using the recent version of BIOS (Version: 2018.05.21(A)(6 Jul 2018))

I am able to format, and the bios on my server is from 2011, I think.

Re: HPE ProLiant DL380 G6 BIOS Upgrade

1. Go to Disk Management.
2. Delete the volume on the USB Key, so it is unallocated.
3. Head head into the setup for the USB Key Creation Utility, then try again.
