HPE ProLiant DL580 Gen 8 iLO 4 Error 270 options

Hello,

I have an iLO 4 Card the give me the following error:

"POST Error: 270 - iLO FW Communication Issue - Unable to communicate with iLO FW"

I am trying to update the firmware to fix the issue.

The card does respond when it is pinged and does get an ip address/hostname when connected to the network.

However the card does not load the web interface, is not configurable in Linux or Smart Update Manger.

So my question is:

Is this card fixable?

Any suggestion is appreciated.

Hi,

It should be fixable, for this you may need to be near the server.

First power down the server and remove the PSU, wait for 2 min then add the PSU back and check iLO.
Update iLO FW.
If still issue not fixed, Clear the NVRAM from the System Maintenance Switch.

First of all, thanks for your reply. Secondly in this instance I managed to fix it.

The way I did was to reflash the firmware through the iLO ports FTP service.

Anyone interested do the following:

1. Grab the iLO firmware .exe file from: (Be sure to get the right file for your iLO version) https://support.hpe.com/connect/s/softwaredetails?softwareId=MTX_ad5c5b7896424a6e8a110ef7cf

2. Extract the .bin file it by following the "Obtaining the iLO firmware image file" instructions found here: https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=en_US&docId=sf000046896en_us

3. Using FTP transfer the file to the server, by following: look for the "iLO network Failed Flash Recovery" section (page 355) in the iLO 4 User Guide https://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/377263a.pdf
