HPE Proliant DL320 G6 - Fan Noise & Water Cooling
I've updated the firmware. I've got all fans installed. I have two power supplies plugged in. I've done all the things I can to keep the server cool but the fan noise on this server is absurd. Are there quieter fans than the standard (PN 536401-001)? Has anyone added water cooling to the processor on these models? I'm willing to get experimental if it reduces the temps & fan noise.

Re: HPE Proliant DL320 G6 - Fan Noise & Water Cooling
Hello,
To reduce the fan noise, you could try setting the server to "Optimal Cooling" in BIOS/RBSU and see if that helps.
Procedure:
1. Press 'F9' at start up
2. Go to 'Advanced Options' in RBSU
3. Select 'Thermal Configuration' and choose 'Optimal cooling'
4. Save the settings and exit from the RBSU
Unfortunately I do not see any other fan models listed in spare/option parts list of this server other than this 536401-001 (DL320 G6 server Documents List : https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=en_US&docId=a00021351en_us)

Re: HPE Proliant DL320 G6 - Fan Noise & Water Cooling
Hi,
I would suggest to change the thermal configurations to Optimalcooling to reduce the FAN noise
1,Enter the RBSU by pressing F9 during POST.
2,Move to the Advanced Options menu item and press the Enter key.
3,Move to the Thermal Configuration menu option and press the Enter key.
4,Select the Optimal Cooling option and press the Enter key.
5,Press the Esc key twice to exit the RBSU. Press F10 to accept the changes and allow the server to reboot.
Also update the server BIOS and firmwares to the latest versions .
Please find the below spare parts document for DL320 G6 Server and there is only one FAN (P/N) 536401-001)listed for this server
