HPE Proliant DL360P Gen8 Cache module status - failed
Good morning HPE Community,
I have a problem with DL360P Gen8, some time ago, we saw ILO reporting an issue - Cache module status - failed. After reading posts on community, and contact with support on my country, suggestion was to change a cache module battery - after replace battery, nothing change.
Server is after warranty, so i decide to write on community - i was thinking about update firmware of HP Smart Array P420i controller - it has v.3.22 firmware, but i do not know how i must to do this.
Anybody can send me step by step guide how to update firmware, can i update only controller firmware, or i must update all (ilo, bios, a then controller).
Some info about my server:
System ROM: P71 08/20/2012
ILO fv: 1.13 Nov 08 2012
System ROM Bootblock: 03/11/2012
Smart Array P420i Controller: 3.22
Power Management Controller Firmware :3.0
Power Management Controller Firmware Bootloader: 2.7
Server Platform Services (SPS) Firmware: 2.1.5.2B.4
I'm adding an screenshot of smart array controler.
Smart-array-p420i
I have a knowlage about DELL server, in HP servers i'm new. Thank you for alle comments.
Best regards.
Adrian

Re: HPE Proliant DL360P Gen8 Cache module status - failed
Hello,
If the battery replacement didn't fix the problem, you need to replace the controller card.
You can watch the spp update steps from the video below.

Hello Erdogan,
Could you confirm that i really need to replace controller card ? I can send a logs o somethind you need to confirm.
Changing controller card will erase configuration fo RAID ? After that i'll must to configure RAID and install everything again ? What about Cache Module ? Need to replace with controller ?
Best regards

NO
After that i'll must to configure RAID and install everything again ?
NO
What about Cache Module ? Need to replace with controller ?
Cache Module embedded with the P420i controller.
After controller replacement os opens normally.
I suggest you contact the local HPE support centre.

Re: HPE Proliant DL360P Gen8 Cache module status - failed
Hello,
If i not wrong, and i not wrong, cache module isn't embedded with the controller. Like on this site: https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=c03453800&docLocale=en_US my cache module is mounted directly on motherboard, not on the controller (few days ago i was dissasembling this server and replacing battery of cache module, witch is connected to the cache module, not to the controller). Question is, maybe only cache module need to replace, not controller...i'm asking, because polish help center told me that i need to replace battery, and it didn't solve my problem. What do you thing ?
Thank you for information.
Best regards
Adrian

Re: HPE Proliant DL360P Gen8 Cache module status - failed
Hello @Adrian_Wąs
Yes, you are right.
Since I wrote the message at night, I confused it with the P440ar. Sorry.
As a result, the cache module must change.
