HPE Proliant ML350 G6 - Cooling problem

Hello, we have a problem with an old Proliant ML350 G6 server. It is equipped with 4 fans. All 4 fans are running with full power sice 4 days now. It seems to cause from a wrong (?) sensor value. The temperature value of sensor 22 (system)  is 127 degree C. I think this is a sensor fault. Do you know where to find this sensor and what it is used fpr? Can we deactivate the sensor or move the treshold upwards?

I doubt that you got the freedom to do that.
You can cross-check in iLO that it is indeed that sensors.

Most probably you can:
- Open the server and clean up the sensors (if iLO version shows the physical location of the sensors)
- Flash the latest BIOS/iLO version (usually the version in the SPP could be a little bit older)
- Verify in iLO for any errors/degraded status and identify if indeed a faulty sensor is causing the high fan speed. Other hardware failures will cause all fans to spin on max.
- Of course you can swap the motherboard, but usually there is no guarantee that the "new" one won't have the same problem.

You may update the server's BIOS and iLO firmware.

If there are hard drive slots without blanks, please populate blanks.

You may power off the server and reseat the componenets.

If there are any third party hardware components, please remove it and check .

Following steps needs to be performed:

1. Ensure to update the bios to the latest version.
2. Checked with minimum configuration (disconnect hard drive back plan)
3. Cleared NVRAM.   
4. Change the thermal configuration to "Optimal cooling” and Check.
