HPE Smart Array P440/4Gb controller in ML360 Gen9 with LFF SSD
I have been supplied 1 x HP Smart Array P440/4GB FBWC 12Gb 1-port Int SAS Controller (726821-B21) and 4 x HPE 800GB 12G SAS Mixed Use-1 SFF (2.5in) SC 3yr Wty Solid State Drive (846434-B21) buy our "reputable" provider. When installed the disks are still showing under the build in B140i Controller.
Question 1 Do I need a cable to connect from the controller to the main board back plane/drive bay as one wasnt supplied? This link may help https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c05054390#N10132
The quickspecs for the controller (https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/v2/getdocument.aspx?docname=c04346277) states to reference (http://www.hpe.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/4AA5-4154ENW.pdf) for cable options but its a dead link.
Question 2 The P440/4G comes with 2 x (PCI to controller power cable). I can see where to connect it to the controller but no where else inside the DL360 Gen9. Do I need this cable or is this the cable I am looking but just cannot find the port to connect it to?
PCI to controller power cable (Short) - straight 3-pin (F) to straight 3-pin (F), 215 mm (8.5 in) long (792836-001)
PCI to controller power cable (Long) - straight 3-pin (F) to straight 3-pin (F), 400 mm (15.7 in) long (792837-001)
Question 3 The provider didnt even supply me with the HPE Smart Storage Battery, I had to point it out to them. No question here, just aaargh!
NOTE: HPE Smart Array P440/4GB FBWC controller option kit does not include the HPE Smart Storage Battery the backup
power source necessary to protect the data on the Flash-backed Write Cache. HPE Smart Storage Battery is an item that has to be purchased separately if this is the first P-series Smart Array controller on your Gen9 server.

Re: HPE Smart Array P440/4Gb controller in ML360 Gen9 with LFF SSD
Hi,
1. Please connect SAS cables from HDD backplane to your Smart Array P440 Controller.
cable kit :775927-B21 has 780421-001 HP X8 WIDE SAS TO X2 MINI SAS cable, it should work.

2. Connect the Smart Storage battery cable from the FBWC module to the connector on the system board or PCI riser cage.
