HI Expert,
I have a question and also suggestion on my current set up.
We have a HPE server DL380 Gen6 with 1 disk running on our production and we already purchased 1 disk to make it 2 again because the set up of the server is in raid 1
Question:
When putting the New Disk on the server it is automatic rebuild itself to raid 1 set up or need to configure on the bios and click on f8 and create new virtual disk??
if we create a new virtual disk on the server it can be possible to losing of data?
what your suggestion on my current situation?
Thank you and have a nice day.

SolutionHi Jovert,
if the Server is configured with Raid 1 and one Drive Failed.
Simply remove the Failed Drive Online and replace it with the replacement Disk.
The Raid Kontroller immediately starts the rebuild, you will see both Disks slow Blinking Green LED, as long as the rebuild is ongoing.
You need no change of the configuration.
Do this Online, with the Server running, no need to Shut down.

Re: HPE server DL380 Gen6 virtual disk
Hi JovertLumbao,
If you have already configured the server with 1 HDD(RAID0) and the server is in production now ,then i would suggest to do below steps to make the RAID 1 array and move the server in to production.
1) Back up the data
2) Schedule the maintenance window and Re-configure the array after installing the new disk in the server (Press F8 during POST to configure the RAID by using ORCA)
3) Re install the Operating system and restore the data from the backup.
Refer https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=c01705681&docLocale=en_US (Page 34 and 67)
Note: While I am an HPE Employee, all of my comments (whether noted or not), are my own and are not any official representation of the company
