Hard Drive Swap On HP ProLiant ML370 G6

Hi,

We have the above server with 4 600GB Hot Swap drives in a Raid 5 array using the P410i controller.

I noticed that the drive in bay 1 is predicted fail.

I have got a replacement drive (same make model)

Is it just a case of ejecting the failing one and replaceing with the new one while the server is still live.

Or are there any pre req work to be done.

Many thanks for advice.

Re: Hard Drive Swap On HP ProLiant ML370 G6

If this is the only problem with the raid (no other bad disks etc), pull the disk out and insert a new disk. The rebuild will start immediately.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

I'd suggest; pull the disk out, give the system a few minutes to realize whats going on, then insert the new disk.
