Hard drive 1721 POST error
I've had a boatload of 142673-B22 18.2 10K drives that have had a 1721 POST error (immenent drive failure) code AFTER the RAID was built (integrated Smart Array.) This problem only appears to happen on DL360s. ADU says there is nothing wrong, no codes, no nothing. A new drive replacing the 'immenently failing' drive fixes the problem. In lieu of replacing a boatload more drives, is there any way to rectify this situation?

Re: Hard drive 1721 POST error
Possible Cause If suing a 5300
Option ROM on 5300 SMART Array Controller or CPQRAID.HAM driver.
Resolution/Workaround
Workaround 1. (Try this first.)
1. Remove all the drives connected to 5300.
2. Run erase on server with no drive attached to 5300 controller.
3. Install one drive with embedded SCSI controller, run Erase and installed system partition.
4. Do this with all the drives one by one and then install all drives with 5300 controller.
Workaround 2. (Try this, if Workaround 1. is not working)
Use 4200 SMART Array Controller as a workaround. Hard drives will need to be replaced as well due to RIS area has already been altered.

Re: Hard drive 1721 POST error
How do you have the drives configured?
How much data is on the drives at the point of failure?
Do you get the same results with less data on the drives? With more data?

Re: Hard drive 1721 POST error
Do you know what firmware version that integrated array controller has? Can you look at the module itself (right near the fan and baffles, behind the drives) and see what brand name is on the chipset?
