Hardware Alerts without SIM?

Hey all, I am running a single ML350 G5 server with the latest PSP.. Is there a way to get emails on failed hardware without having to have a full blown SIM implementation? Thanks!

Re: Hardware Alerts without SIM?

Yes.

You can have WEBES standalone; Insight RSS (with webes included) or SIM with webes and IRSS included.

Hope this helps!

Tuscani,

did you tried the HP Event Notifier ?
It comes with the Proliant Support Pack and is located under the same group as the System Home Page i.e. All Programs\HP Management Agents\Event Notfier Config.

It just needs a SMTP relay/mail server you can point to to forward the alert emails that are generated for the categories you want i.e. disk, network, power supplies, fans, smartarray etc etc

Re: Hardware Alerts without SIM?

The advantage of IRSS if you have warranty is, it opens directly a support case at HP in case of a hardware problem.

Hope this helps!

Re: Hardware Alerts without SIM?

both valid.

Insight remote support standard do no need SIM and it will auto notify you and HP of an hardware event speeding up process, additionally IRSS can be use on all your HP infraestructure either having SNMP or WBEM on each managed system. only one IRSS is needed.
this is the ISEE upgrade!!!

the event notifier can be configure to send emails, just need to specify your lotus/exchange /cloud email based address.

Re: Hardware Alerts without SIM?

Tuscani's question in this thread was only on how to send emails without full blown SIM, so guess the event notifier is "the" answer to that.

Re: Hardware Alerts without SIM?

Hello,

I only have one DL370 and a Dell PE server. I only care about receiving email alerts, is there a way to install PSP (or anything smaller) on the Dell to Monitor my the 370? I know I can install on the 370, but how about if we lose power and/or network. The Dell is in a different building.

Thx! Sam.
