Help Required for Fedora Core OS on HP proliant ML370 G5 server

This server model is not supporting to any of the Fedora release, even we tried to install that we got the following error after completing the installation on the server.

Error:-
Checking file systems
fsck.ext3:permission denied while trying to open /dev/cc1ss!c0d0p1
***An error occurred during the file system check
***Dropping you to a shell ;the system will reboot
***Warning --Saline is active
***Disabling security enforcement for system recovery
***Run 'setenforce1' force enable
Give root Password for maintenance
(or type control-D to continue):

After that we tried to repair the file system & did some another troubleshooting also.but again after reboot we got the same error...

Even on this server model RHEL 5 is getting installed perfectly ,for RHEL 5 , we didn't get any issue on that.

Please suggest If we can Install Fedora Linux on HP proliant ML370 G5 server

Dear Satish,

Fedora is not supported by HP on any of its server.
Linux support matrix:
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/linux/hpLinuxcert.html
Hp currently supports only the following Operating Systems:
» Microsoft Windows
» Red Hat Enterprise Linux
» SUSE Linux Server
» VMware
» Solaris
» NetWare
» Oracle Enterprise Linux
» Asianux
» Debian GNU/Linux
» SCO UnixWare
» SCO OpenServer
But if you want to install the Fedora only then, u can try with the different-different versions available, any one of them might get installed but you won't find the tested drivers for it.
Or you can try with other distributions which are based on RHEL such as Gentoo

Hope this info will help

As Tarun points out Fedora is not a supported operating system. So the installation will be a hit or miss affair.

However, I am not sure if Gentoo is based on RHEL. Gentoo is a source based Linux operating system which needs to compiled from scratch.

I know a couple of RHEL clone Linux Operating Systems. CentOS is a popular choice. I think BlueWhite is also a RHEL clone but only for 64-bit architecture.
