Help - first time server support
Just landed a first time job supporting loads of Compaq servers - (hardware and NT4 server) !!!!
Can any of you guys recommend any books or publications that will give me good background into Compaq server setup, hardware installation, using Smarstart, troubleshooting etc. - SCSI ,RAID 0,1, 5 etc.
C'mon you must remember your first server job - I'm nervous!
Any help, suggestions, emailed notes gratefully received.....

Re: Help - first time server support
www.compaq.com
MOST of the information you have will be right here. If you do enough digging you can find it here. Depending on what servers you are maintaining there are a lot of useful links here. You can find whitepapers, service advisories, ROMPAQs, Maintainance & Service Guides or just about anything else you would need. The Compaq stuff is fairly straight forward with a few gotchas here and there. The biggest issue I have seen is out of date System ROMs, and device firmware. Along with this are the NT Drivers. It is important to use the Compaq Drivers not the Microsoft Drivers. These can all be applied from the SmartStart CDs or downloadable from the web - Supportpaqs for Windows. Pretty cool stuff.
