Help with ProLiant 3000.

A friend gave me an HP ProLiant 3000.How can I clean the HDD,and install an operating system on it something like Windows 2000 Pro ? I need some instructions on who to do it.Or a site that might have some info on how to do a step by step.Never worked on one before,but like to learn.Can someone help me with this ? Thanks in advance

Hi,

If you are having the Smart start cd then no problem install through that it wilkl guide through it.
If in case you dont have it then
Go for manual installation by inserint g2k cd and providing controller driver from

In case if you want to install the SCU that is system configutaion utility, without smart start cd then use this external link

Hello Allan,
Here is what you need to do:

Run the system erase. Which can be done two ways. Either from the Smart Start CD or by downloading the Utility from the following link:

Secondly, after you run the system erase it will ask you to reboot the system which you would do either by leaving SmartStart in the system and in case you don't have SmartStart then make System configuration Diskettes from the following link:

http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/13227.html

For both these utilities you have to cold boot the system. If you need more info please feel free to post.
CAUTION: W2K PRO is not supported on COMPAQ/HP servers.

Hello Allan,
Unfortunately, none of the desktop OSs are supported on our Servers...:( Just the server operating systems. If you don't have access to a smart start CD you can always order it by calling 1-800-573-1099 since you are in US. Please make sure to specify 5.50 version.

Hi,I did the system erase,and now when I insert the SmartStart cd in,it gets ejected in a couple of seconds ( every time it is inserted ).I'll try an other cdrom on Monday and see,or is there something that I'm doing wrong..Need advice,thanks Allan.
