Highest CPU support

I was wondering if anyone knew if this server can support the PIII Coppermine CPUs? Can it handle CPUs faster than 600MHZ?

Re: Highest CPU support

Upgrade kit is option part # 153555-B21. NOTE: to upgrade a 450 Mhz unit to 600 mhz, a thermal upgrade kit is also required (144033-B22). Failure to install thermal upgrade kit may cause severe damage to the server and will void the warranty on the unit.

Re: Highest CPU support

I think it is pretty funny that someone from Compaq is mentioning this nonexistant thermal upgrade kit. One of my staff called today after I came across the same documentation and was told by Compaq that it was never manufactured or sold and is not required, only the voltage regulator (cdw - $39.00). I am not so sure I buy the cpu comment either. I may try an intel coppermine PIII using a supersocket III card (http://store.yahoo.com/aaronix/cpubridforne.html) . A guy on Dell's discussion board was successful using this to upgrade a board that supposedly only went to 600 to 1000 (http://www.angelfire.com/wy/DellOPTIPLEX/CPU.htm). I would love anyone's insight here as I have a 1600 running a 500mhz proc that I would like to upgrade asap.
