Hot Plug Hard drives compatibility

I have been searching for a while for hard drives for my proliant 5000, but when I give the old part numbers that I have they give so high prices. What I want to know is, the hot plug hard drives, for example for my proliant 1600R 266 Mhz look the same but they are cheaper, are these HDs going to work with my proliant 5000?
Thanks

Re: Hot Plug Hard drives compatibility

I've installed several different sizes (4.3, 9.1, 18.2 and 36.4GB) of Wide-Ultra SCSI-3 Hot Plug drives in the ProLiant 5000, but remember that the drive cage on this server only supports Fast-Wide which means although your drives can be Wide-Ultra (40Mbps) you're only going to achieve Fast-Wide (20Mbps) speeds. Remember your controller also has to be compatible with the drives. I've been using a supplier (www.chestnutmicro.com) to purchase older drives that are not refurbished or pulled. I purchased some 9.1GB drives (313706-B21) for $195 each. You can also trade-in that 5000 towards the purchase of a new ProLiant (www.compaq.com/solutions/tradein). Good luck.
