Hot-plug drives always showing drive activity

I have 5 4.3g hot-swap drives setup in RAID-5 with w2k. Everything seems to be operating normally except that the tray drive activity LED (the middle green one) on all 5 drives are just about always on, except for a few moments after actual drive activity. Doesn't seem as though the drives are actually spinning in this situation, but would rather not take a chance. Trying to avoid system erase and starting over re-configuring the array (the ACU and ADU both report all drives and controller OK). Any ideas?
