How best to migrate 'old' drives in RAID-10 to hotspares?
Never had to do this and unsure of the 410i behavior so I'm asking. Client had 2 drives in a 4 drive RAID-10 fail. The failed drives were in different sets and one hotspare is present. I've replaced the 2 failed drives with new drives and the array has completed rebuilding.
What I would like to do is pull the remaining 2 old drives and replace them with 2 more new drives that I have waiting and use the old drives as additional hotspares.
My question is, "If I re-insert the 2 fully functional 'old drives', that technically would make up a valid array, will this cause problems with the now rebuilt RAID-10 array that is made up of all 'new drives'?"
