How can I setup the array configuration with the smartstart CD?

Hello everybody,

I am going crazy :(

How is it possible to configure the array with the Smartstart CD? All disks I created with the CD are wrong. I have to install Windows NT 4.0 on our new ProLiant ML330, but this is really difficult without harddisks.... you know what I mean :)

Any ideas. Thank you all in advance.

Best regards from Hamburg

Hi Daniel;

Depending on the array controller, you may be able to configure the array from its own bios with an F8 prompt (you'll see it at post).

Otherwise, you can boot the server from the SmartStart cd and start the install process for NT 4.0 using the cd - this will guide you through the Array Configuration Utility as well as System Config, etc.

Have fun! (and breathe...:-)

Be aware that sometimes with the ML330, the LC2/LC3 controller is shipped as a promotional bundle. This RAID controller is NOT a Smart Array (SA) controller i.e. not configurable via Smartstart (ACU).
IF it's the case, you can always configure it via F8 during boot or buy a real SA controller :-)

Just find out what controller is inside the box.
