Hi,
we have a ProLiant ML 350 G5 with SLES 10 SP4. Although system is old it was running fine for many years. But now we had twice that the OS didn't react anymore. We had to reboot. I think the RAID-Controller E200i is the culprit.
I ran hpaducli. But the output is very thoroughly. Is there a webpage/tutorial explaining it ?
I can upload it if desired.
Thanks.
Bernd

Re: How can i understand the output from hpaducli ?
OMG.
Several online tools convert my 450KB text file to a ton of jpg files with a size of 80MB in sum. Great. I try to upload although i'm not very confident ...

SolutionConsider to upgrade the firmware to 1.86 first:
Smart Array E200i in slot 0 : Identify Controller Configured Logical Drives 1 (0x01) Configuration Signature 0xa00e8e09 RAM Firmware Revision 1.72 ROM Firmware Revision 1.72 Hardware Revision 0x00 Boot Block Revision 1.72
and get the cache battery replaced.
Cache Flags Cache Flag Status -------------------- ------- Temporarily Disabled Warning Cache Disable Code Cache is temporarly disabled due to low battery voltage (0x0001)
There are also updates for the drive firmware, example:
version HPDG:
you have
Drive Model HP EG0146FAWJC Drive Serial Number xxxx Drive Firmware Revision HPDC
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: How can i understand the output from hpaducli ?
Hi Torsten,
thanks for your help. I appreciate that. I changed the battery. Following recommendations in this forum i will wait now for 72h and then check if it is fully charged. Then i will update the firmware.
I will keep you informed.
Thanks.

Re: How can i understand the output from hpaducli ?
system standing still again today. Nothing neither in the syslog from Linux (no kernel panic, segementation fault, backtrace ...) nor in the IML. Battery does not seem to load. Now i have some days off. Afterwards i will update the firmware from the E200i.
Question: i have an UPS. Do i really need the battery controlled cache for the RAID controller ? I think it's just for the purpose of a power interrupt which is not a problem because i have an UPS. Maybe the cache is the culprit. Or does it also improve performance ?

Re: How can i understand the output from hpaducli ?
I'm back again and now the accu is fully charged (it took much longer than 72h, maybe a week or s.th. like that) and currently we have no problems, server is running fine.
For the moment i will not change anything.
Thanks for your help.
