How to Extend to the Max SFF Hard Drivessupported by HP Proliant DL380p Gen8

Good Day Experts

As stated in the below reference, the server can host 25 SFF hard drives. Do you have the official procedure to extend from 8 to 16 by removing the optical drive cage and then the procedure to extend from 16 to 25.

If there is any movie that explain the steps, please share the link, it will be more helpfull.

Hi there,

It is pretty easy, definitely you need to have new disks bays cages and25sff backplane. You also must have backplane connected to system board. Issue is with controller cause embedded p420 will not support that configuration, also you cannot use sas expander. Because 25sff has got 3 sas ports, you must use p830 and connect 1,3 to one wide sas in controller and 2 to other port.

Kind Regards
