How to Redo SCSI Cables in ML570 G3
Hi,
I have an unused ML570 G3. The box has (2) 6400 cards, onboard SCSI is not in used. The server has a 2 disk raid 1 connected to the first 6400 card and 8 disk raid 5 connected to the second 6400. We plan to install ESX 3.5 on this box. We have (4) 300 GB drives; (4) 146 GB drives; and plenty of 72 GB drives. No budget allowed to purchase new drives so we must use what we have. Is there a way to rerun the scsi cables so:
- the first 2 bays will be raid 1 running ESX
- the next 4 bays will be VMFS store on raid 5 with (4) 300 GB drives connecting to the first 6400 card
- the last 4 bays will be VMFS store on raid 5 with (4) 146 GB drives connecting to the second 6400 card
I have been looking but found nothing helpful do far.
Thanks.
