Hello,
I would like to replace the default video card on a server Proliant 400 (max 800x600...) by a video card with better resolution (3D Prophet on the AGP slot). When I insert the card in the slot without changing anything, no more boot. When I turn ON the the switch 1 on the server board before, same result.
Sorry for a such "basic" question but I did not find the solution in the online books nor in the forum.
Best regards.

Re: How to change the videocard in a Proliant 400
The AGP on this system is version 1. So you will need to get an "old" card. You may have better luck using a PCI based video card. Try an S3 or Trident chipset card.
Enjoy!

Thanks for this usefull information.
I'll try your solution but il's not so easy to find a PCI video car in 2004 ;-)
Last question: no solution flashing the bios via Internet?

Solution
Q: Flash the bios over the wire?
A: No, Compaq never released an on-line version of the bios update on this system; only the diskette version. Sorry, you will have to be present at the console.
