Thats a good answer Matti.

Callum. Even thoug you got a RAID, you must still make backup, you must still have emergency restore plan.

most common reason for data loss is human factor = deleting files etc.
If you delete a file, it will be deletet on both drives.
You also have risk's of virus, theft, fire or other failures, that may caurse data corruption.

RAID is nice to have in case of Hard drive failure. and for some perfomance points of view.
