I want to connect the Raid 5 (4 internal drives) to a 5300 SCSI for performance reason (drives still remain in the Cage) Is this possible, if so how can I do it?

Solutionyes what you want to accomplish is called PCI duplexing as you say to improve performance
OK this is the way
3 components will be needed:
Short SCSI cable - 5i to 2 HDD (0-1)
Long SCSI cable - 5300 to 4 HDDs (2...5)
Terminator board - to handle bays.
more information here, page 102 (PCI Duplex SCSI Cabling)

Re: How to connect internal drives to 5300 controller?
whether he can just put SA5300 in pci and connect 4 drives while 5i is responsible for mirroring and he would be first in boot order.
Why third component is needed?
We can do it without third component?

Re: How to connect internal drives to 5300 controller?
that includes that cables: 289567-001
and this is the one for SCSI terminator
289563-001
btw predrag81 asked why this configuration it's because Henderson wants 5i controls 0, 1 and PCI controller controls 2...5 and that's the only way if not terminator is used PCI controller will have to handle all HDDs 0...5
bye
