How to create a cciss driver disk for Red Hat Linux 8.0/9.0 ?

I need to install Read Hat Linux on a ML370 G3.
Also I need to boot from the RAID.

But Red Hat does not recognize the Smart Array Controller from the installation CD. I treid several ways including installation on a single drive, installing the PSP and migrating to RAID, but this fails. So my onla ooption is to get / create a driver disk.

Any ideas ?

There are instructions here for the installation. I do not have much experience with Linux but hopefully this will do the job.

Hello Brian,

been there, done that, not working. These are RPM's, which means that you can use them only if you have an up and running system, what's not the case.
I need the driver at boot time of the install disk.

Meanwhile I've tried RH9. Seems to have support by the distribution. But other problems occuring now.

On RH site you should download the driver diskette.
Anyway, which SmartArray do you have?
I installed rh8 successfully on ML530+SmartArray.

RH9 shouldn't be supported by HP so you can consider to use rh8 and patch up all packets.

Hi,

select you server from the site then use the option ( Software - Driver Diskettes )from website to make the disket and provide at the time of post. Same page will also let you know how to decompress the same to floppy, using the rawwrite.
