How to enable RAID failure notification. ML-370
Greetings,
I have an older ML370 running SBS2003. It has a "Smart Array 5i" controller in it. I am running version 7.80.60 of the ACU. I just happened to be on site this AM and on a whim, I opened the server. One of the drive fault lights was on. Not sure how long it was on for.
I had to reboot the server for other reasons. When it came up it told me that drive ID #4 needed rebuilding and asked me to press f1 or f2. I selected to rebuild the drive. it rebuilt successfully.
What I am looking for is a means of being alerted via email when something goes wrong with one of the drives.
Is this functionality built in to the RAID controller or server?
Thanks.
Paul.....

Re: How to enable RAID failure notification. ML-370
Hi Paul,
This type of functionality is not inbuilt into server or controller or OS.
You may have to use some applications which will alert you or you can also use SIM (System Insight Manager) which will send notifications whenever there is any HW or SW failure, provided SIM is properly configured.

Good Luck!
I work for HPE.
