How to identify if there is a DL980 hardware issue?
Hi experts,
Our two dl980 servers are a little strange. How do I identify if there is any defective components? If not, I am eager to run SQL/SAP stress test and I hope it could identify the problematic hardware components for me.
First, one server crashed(BSOD) after OS installed complete. The error message is something like â driver_irql_not_less_or_equalâ and â usb_xxxâ . Yes, it is different every time but it always crashed when shutting down OS. (HP HW engineer swaps the upper tray and it seems to â fixâ the problem temporarily)
Second, update firmware 9.30 returned an error message:
Hardware malfunction
Call your hardware vendor for support
NMI: parity check/memory parity error
The system has halted (again, HP HW engineer swaps the upper tray and it seems to â fixâ the problem temporarily)
Third, HP insight diagnostics test sometimes hangs on both nodes. Yes, both nodes. It hanged on dl980-2(10.243.23.10) yesterday and it hanged on dl980-1(10.243.23.9) today. The testing is started at the same time. One completes 10 loops and one is still running in loop 3. Thatâ s weird, isnâ t it?

Re: How to identify if there is a DL980 hardware issue?
What is the date of the system firmware and iLO firmware ?
Is the system firmware 27/7/2010 or the latest 27/01/2011 ?
