How to identify the card from part number?

I have got some experimental network cards from HP (eg NC 523SFP) so I do not know how the ones that are sold look like. But I have noticed that the ones I got are not consistently labelled. Sometimes only the part number is available. Sometimes not even the part numbers are available. There are mysterious looking numbers available on the chips (eg. PTH12050 waZ 84m...). Is there a way to identify individual cards from the information written on the card alone?

Re: How to identify the card from part number?

Maybe if you can correspond it to a NIC on

http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/networking/index-nic.html

you can then find the part number?

Maybe HP Support has access to some internal systems that could also help you?

Maybe they never started selling them?

Maybe if you run a firmware update with the dvd/hp sum that will tell you what it finds?

Thanks for your reply.

I saw some part number database where you type in the part number and it gives some information. I don't actually recall the site.
