How to recover Raid Information from Disk

How to recover Raid Information from Disk

Hello all.
We have Proliant ML350G4 with Hp SmartArray 641 card.
The SmartArray 641 Card has crashed and we have to replace it with a same.
What must we do to avoiding loosing data on the disk.
Thx
Andry

Re: How to recover Raid Information from Disk

You shouldn't have to do anything but pop in the same kind of card. The disks will write the info back to the controller card. .

Correct - For example I had a bad 6404 yesterday. I pulled that card out and installed a new 6404 and the disks wrote back to my 6404 and all of the array info for that particular card came over.

If controller crashed when server worked and after powering off the controller no more than 72 hours passed, you must remove cache module (with battery) from bad controller and reattach this module to new controller to flush data from cache to disks.

I have faced same with dell Power edge 1650 i think it was.

But here no issu
install same make new card.
AS Raid information is stored in Hdd not on CArd.

Re: How to recover Raid Information from Disk

Yes,

I think raid information is stored both on disk and SmartArray.
