How to replace hard disk in raid5

Hello,
My server is Compaq proliant 1600 tower with RAID 5 by 9.1GB x 3 Hot pluggable Wide Ultra2 SCSI Hard disk.Array controller is smart array PCI 3200.
Now one of the hard disk's indicator shown failed and want to replace with new one.
I would like to ask is there any step or guide for me to follow it?
Or is it just simply remove the fault harddisk and replace new one, then it will automatically rebuild?
Also I would like to know how the data save in 3 hard disk with raid 5, how long it can run in only 2 hard disk, any document about compaq raid 5?
Thanks in advance

- Get replacement drive
- pull out defective drive
- insert replavement drive
- smart array controller will detect drive and start rebuild process

As long as no other drive fails (or gets bad sectors = read errors)
But read/write performance is reduced as long as the drive is failed.

I think you should do it online. Don't turn off you server.
