Re: How to set x8 lanes for x8 PCI-E Cards?
Most network cards is PCI-E x4 but are compatible with an x8 slot. wich means that it will only use 4 lanes out of 8 if attached to a x8 slot.
Regards.

SolutionIt is quite common for a ProLiant's PCIe I/O slots to be physically (ie the connector) 2x wider than they are electrically (the actual connections available). As the PCIe specs require cards to be willing/able to step-down to the available number of lanes this allows one to connect "larger" cards even if there aren't free slots available with that many "electrical" lanes.
