Hp Proliant Ml370 G3 slow disk

Hi all,

we have a Hp proliant server . Its our fileserver. It have RAID1 and RAID5. The users say that its very slow. I have installed de HD-tune to check the disk, and the reports say Average-trasfer-rate=4MB/sec.
Other proliant servers have 90-180MB/sec.
Can you help me?
Thanks

Re: Hp Proliant Ml370 G3 slow disk

*shake, shake*

Seems my scrying sphere isn't working...
(Hellfire & Perriwinkle's ProSight 500t)

Is this a 'system wide' problem?
(Both RAIDs)
Have you checked that all HDDs are GOOD?
(Insight manager, listening for grinding noises... HP Array diagnostics... )

It's also possible that it's an OS issue.
Which OS?
How much RAM is in the server?

My guess is that you have a dud drive or a controller with a serious issue, but without details all we can do is guess.

Could be RAID 5 on that controller. What is the other server? Which controller? Which drives? Do they match? Does the RAID configuration match?

Re: Hp Proliant Ml370 G3 slow disk

Thanks all,
The "array configuration utility say it├В┬┤s correct", and nothing of noise

It├В┬┤s have windows 2003 R2 (3G of RAM).

When i look task manager... 1%CPU usage, RAM OK..I think OS it├В┬┤s ok.

It├В┬┤s posible the problem is cable, or motherboard?

tranks all

Do you have Carepaq support? Upgrade the firmware on the controller and drives. Retest. You will also want to upgrade the server board firmware and BIOS. It could be an issue. Use Sandra pro to benchmark the drives. It is more accurate than HD-Tune.
