Hp TopTools Vs Compaq Windows diagnostics

Is there a tools for compaq server(Proliant or others) more similar to topTools with a event viewer of hardware error with date of error. I just tried compaq windows diagnostics and it's not as good as TopTools.

Thans a lot =)

Patrick:

More to the point is that ProLiant servers have something called the Integrated Management Log which is stored in non-volatile memory and can be accessed locally through the IML viewer or remotely through the Insight agents. If you configure and install the ProLiant Support Pack properly, both of those features (and many others) will be available to you.

Re: Hp TopTools Vs Compaq Windows diagnostics

Hi Patrick,

if your objective is to be able to read the hardware log then remember that most last generation Proliants have a build in iLO card (Integrated Lights Out) which is comparable to the TTRC TopTools Remote Control Card which we have in the Netservers.

The iLO has a LAN port and if configured properly you can just use your browser and read the logs remotely without a need for additional utilities/software on the host itself.
The advantage is also that even when the server is crashed or stuck at boot, you can still take over the server console and all logs via this iLO card. This iLO is a must if you're providing support for remote servers, you can even remotely install the server by using the 'virtual media' feature with which you can redirect your local PC floppy and cd-rom to that remote server so that they temporary replace the servers floppy and cd-rom during the operation you need to perform.

On older generations Proliants, this is an optional PCI card (Riloe or RiloeII). Have a look here for which ones do have iLO by default and which don't:

Re: Hp TopTools Vs Compaq Windows diagnostics

The problem is now that most of ours servers are in production now...and those tools need to be install with other drivers from compaq...
