hi andrew

i am not sure whether clearing the NVRAM will help but non the less:

NVRAM - Non-volatile random access memory is the general name used to describe any type of random access memory which does not lose its information when power is turned off. The memory you are wanting to clear is built onto the motherboard. to clear the NVRAM read this pdf below and go to page 39. It will tell you which switch to flick and where it is located. after you switch the flick power on the server and wait for a beep. then power down and flick the switch back to its original state and the NVRAM will be cleared and the server ready for use.

Re: I have a problem with HP Proliant DL140 Server Series

Hi,

In BIOS under 'Advanced' you can see the configuration of the serial port(DL140 has serial, but no parallel port). What NVRAM clear can make is to clear all BIOS changes of the default configuration. Be sure COM1 is enabled in BIOS and it must be seen in device manager...
