I have a problem with installing VMWare ESX 3.0.1 on DL140 server

I can't install VMWare ESX because installation programm don't see any hard drive (I have only 2 SATA drive in RAID 1 configuration).
I tried any drivers which found on HP site for my system.
I insert driver disk and tell inst. programm to add driver from the disk. After that I can see the driver in the additional driver list. But when I choose it to add, it doesn't.

Hi,

VMware isn't supported on the DL140 because VMware doesn't support SATA drives.

Check out the compatibility guide here:

http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi3_systems_guide.pdf

and the installation guide here:

http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi3_installation_guide.pdf

which states:

"SATA drives are not supported for installing ESX Server or for storing virtual machines on VMFS partitions, even if they are masked by hardware as IDE or SCSI disks."

Cheers,

Yes, I know. But I thought that I could install only system files on SATA drives and use SAN storage for virtual machines.
So, could I do it?

I've not tried, but based on the information from the manuals, NO.

Cheers,
