Re: IDE HD and ML370

Thanks for prompt reply.
But I have another problem to boot OS with this ML370 G3 because its RAID5 array is deamged.
The history is like this: First one of its HD is failed and my engineer may make disk position change diask 0 and disk 2. So it show message when booted.
Then I changed those two HDs in right position and restarted. It shows a message to Press F1 to continue without rebuld or to Press F2 to start the rebuild and accept data lost.

When I press 'F2', computer booted normally.
Then I press 'F8' and go to Array Utility, it shows that one RAID5 Logical Drive is configured and the size is 101.7 GB. Now I'm using 6 hard disks of 36.4 GB in drive bays. So, this means only 4 hard disks are implemented in current RAID5 drive! Hard disk 0 is showing with flashing 'RED HD' sign and all are in green. In previous condition, HD 0 and HD 2 are misplaced, so one HD is broken from RAID5 drive?

Please see attachment for 'ADU' result.

Now I'm in serious and please reply me kindly.

Thanks forwards,

Re: IDE HD and ML370

Hi Kyaw,

Below is the ADU error report:

Slot 1 Smart Array 641 Controller ERROR REPORT:

SCSI Port 1, Drive ID 0 ... S.M.A.R.T. predictive failure errors have been
detected in the factory Monitor and Performance data. SOLUTION: Please
replace this drive when conditions permit.

SCSI Port 1, Drive ID 0 ... S.M.A.R.T. predictive failure errors have been
detected in the since power Monitor and Performance data. SOLUTION: Please
replace this drive when conditions permit.

The error clearly indicates that the drive id ID 0 has failed and that's the reason for the constand RED LED on the drive.

Port 1 SCSI ID 0 - Last Failure Reason - Missing in save_RIS

Port 1 SCSI ID 2 - Last Failure Reason - Removed in hot plug

Port 1 SCSI ID 1 - Last Failure Reason Removed in hot plug

Rest of the drives are fine, replace the failed drive and rebuiding would reinitiate.

Re: IDE HD and ML370

Dear Naruscorpio,

So thanks.
When I boot from RAID 5 HDs, it cannot boot.
In ADU report, it shows that:

Port 1 SCSI ID 2 - Last Failure Reason - Removed in hot plug

Port 1 SCSI ID 1 - Last Failure Reason Removed in hot plug

What does it means. Can I rebuild original RAID drive without loss of data. I've not a spare for failed HD.

Re: IDE HD and ML370

Kyaw,
Port 1 SCSI ID 2 - Last Failure Reason - Removed in hot plug

Port 1 SCSI ID 1 - Last Failure Reason Removed in hot plug

Indicates that you had pulled out the drives or swapped them in diffrent slots as you had mentioned

I would lile to know whats the status on the server right now, since you had pressed F2 to continue to rebuild with data loss.

Try replacing the failed drive and check if it rebuild, it should rebuild as you told me that the server booted up after you got the drives back into its original SCSI ID.

Re: IDE HD and ML370

Thanks Naruscorpio,

This means that since I've pressed 'F2', I can not get data back even I replace with new HD and rebuild RAID drive, right?

So, what will happen if I press 'F1' to continue without rebuild.

Please never mind that I'm asking I do not understand what that statement means. If I press 'F1' without rebuild, how can I get data?

Re: IDE HD and ML370

Kyaw,

The time between the few drives being offline to the drives coming back online the data transaction happened in that period of time would be lost.
