I have a new DL180 G6 Server. It has 2 NIC interfaces but no seperate interface for ILO. My distributer told me, that I can use on of the NIC interfaces. How can I configure it?
Best regards.
Peter

SolutionYour distributor told you wrong. There are two LAN ports for the server OS and an *optional* iLO LAN port.
See pages 129-131 of the service guide

Re: ILO on DL180 G6
hmm, it seems that it works.
take a look on this:

Selecting a shared Ethernet management port
c. On DL160 G6, DL160se G6, DL170h G6, DL180 G6, and SL160z G6, SL170z G6, or SL2x170z G6, set BMC NIC Allocation to Enabled.

Re: ILO on DL180 G6
Yes on page 11... "You can configure LO100 LAN port access using two different Ethernet ports: the dedicated 10/100 LO100 management port or through a side-band connection using the server embedded NIC."
I guess the dedicated LO100 is needed if you need *both* embedded NICs for your server OS.
Thanks for the update.

Re: ILO on DL180 G6
the MACs of the built-in NICs are different (last letter is E and F), ILO (LO-100 in this case) has a dedicated LAN port, the third port.
see

overview - rear view - item 7
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: ILO on DL180 G6
Whether the Dedicated Management Port Card (HP SPN 516806-001) allows to control the server when it is switched off?
